About the album
Paul Simon's seventh solo studio album, released 25 August 1986. Simon built much of it from sessions recorded in Johannesburg with South African musicians, folding township jive, isicathamiya and zydeco into his own songwriting. Ladysmith Black Mambazo appear across the record.
It won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1987, and the title track took Record of the Year the year after. Eleven songs, about forty-three minutes. Which makes eleven days.
